What is The Family Legacy?
The Family Legacy: A Roman Life is a 2D generational life-sim RPG set in ancient Rome. You play the founder of a house that will outlive you — paying your father's debts, learning the names of your neighbors, and building a family through choice, loyalty, and quiet acts of grace. It is the first game in a planned three-game arc.
What kind of game is it?
A cozy, story-rich life simulation with RPG depth — closer to a warm hearth than a battlefield. Your choices echo across generations, and some of what matters most is never seen at all.
When does it release?
The game is in active development and does not yet have a release date. Join the household email list on this page to be the first to know.
What platforms will it be on?
The Family Legacy is being built for PC (Windows) first. Any further platforms will be announced later in development.
Who is Shadow Stream Studios?
Shadow Stream Studios is an independent one-man dev team — founded by a 21-year U.S. military combat veteran who built his own family through choice and loyalty. The Family Legacy is his story of forgiveness and grace, told as a game.
Will there be more games?
Yes. A Roman Life is only the first. The vision is a saga where every culture's history is honored with its own life — future games will let players live other times and places, far beyond Europe's story.
